Safeguarding Statement
We are committed to treating all who engage with us with courtesy and respect, and without regard to class, colour or creed, ensuring that no one is at risk or poses a risk when on our premises.
Our full Safeguarding Policy is available on request and it outlines the areas impacted and the steps necessary to deliver the protection of the vulnerable adults and children from harm.
The church trustees have nominated a Designated Safeguarding Lead along with a deputy. DBS check is compulsory for the Church Council and all nominated roles.
The following conditions should be notified to the DSL without delay:
-
Vulnerable adult or child as a pre-existing condition
-
Disrespectful, improper or abusive behavior by anyone associated with the church
-
Registration on any barred or watch list when wishing to participate in church activities
The DSL will record the notification or concern, and take it to the council ensuring confidentiality of all parties. The outcome of this may result in our contacting the individuals impacted and/or contacting external Local Authorities such as the Social Services or Police.
Incidents deemed as “Serious” will be reported to the Charity Commission and may have legal implications for all concerned.
A known ex-offender or someone on the Barred list wishing to participate in church activities involving vulnerable adults or children must disclose their registration in confidence to the DSL.
